Emergency Tier Vote May 2015 Discussion Thread

This is the official discussion area for the Tier voting and nominations of the month of May 2015. Nothing you say here has any bearing on the voting or nomination process, this only exists to share your thoughts with other members to try to weasel out some votes or to see the reasoning of other people.

So everyone knows, we didn't have nominations this month because we needed these tiers to be updated quickly because the game is basically unplayable. So we had a skype call with some reasonable people to make this month's ballot. Sorry to the people that wanted to nominate this month. There will be nominations next month.

This is what's on the table. Does anybody wish to discuss? I'm personally in agreement with all of them, except possibly Diancite, which I'm uncertain about for the following reasons: It's relatively frail, and there are several common Pokemon that can switch in or revenge kill it. For example:

4 Atk Mega Diancie Diamond Storm vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Venusaur: 136-162 (37.3 - 44.5%) -- 2% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

This is assuming Offensive or SpDefensive, the former of which can OHKO with Giga Drain and recover some health, the latter of which recovers a hefty sum of damage taken with Giga Drain and potentially OHKOs after Stealth Rock.

252 SpA Mega Diancie Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-T: 219-258 (68.6 - 80.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Scarf Lando-T can switch in once, gets a guaranteed OHKO with EQ (or can potentially U-Turn predicting a switch), or can just revenge kill it.

4 Atk Mega Diancie Diamond Storm vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Mega Scizor: 121-144 (35.2 - 41.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock

M-Scizor can switch in fairly easily and OHKO with Bullet Punch

252 SpA Mega Diancie Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Skarmory: 120-142 (35.9 - 42.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Skarmory can easily tank a hit and swing back with Iron Head (which is becoming a somewhat common set now, often actually running SpDef EVs over Phys Defense to beat fairies such as Diancie and Garde)

It can do nothing to Ferrothorn, not even going to bother posting calcs.

252 SpA Mega Diancie Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Jirachi: 166-196 (41 - 48.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

SpDef Jirachi can switch in on an Earth Power generally without much problem and OHKO back with Iron Head.

4 Atk Mega Diancie Diamond Storm vs. 252 HP / 136+ Def Amoonguss: 166-196 (38.4 - 45.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery

Amoonguss, although uncommon, doesn't really care about M-Diancie, being able to tank two Diamond Storms and hit back with two Giga Drains.
