NU Team FTW Empty
PostSubject: NU Team FTW   NU Team FTW EmptyThu Apr 12, 2012 11:33 am

NU Team FTW 180
Flaffy (Wooly)
Calm (+Sp.Def,-Atk)
EVS (252 Sp. Def, 252 HP, 4 Sp.Atk)
Item: Eviolite
Trait: Static

-Cotton Guard
-Discharge
-Rest
-Sleep Talk

Flaffy FTW! This little thing walls so good. When on a Cotton Guard and a good Sp.Def to back it up. And with Discharge and its 30% chance of Paralysis Flaffys low speed probably wont matter at all.. Rest and Sleep Talk works so good. Its like the back bone of Flaffy Put Flaffy will be useless if it gets Taunted. Be sure to set up at least 1 Cotton Guard before that happens..

NU Team FTW 321
Wailord (DerpLord)
Modest (+Sp.Atk, -Atk)
EVs (76 HP, 252 Sp.Atk, 180 Spd)
Item- Choice Scarf
Trait: Water Veil

-Water Spout
-Ice Beam
-Hidden Power (Ground)
-Surf

With the 76 HP EVs your HP Should be at exactly 500. Which is great.. Causwe your gonna need it for Water Spout and another thing you will need is Surf andf HP Ground for your problems.. Ice Beam is of course for the Grass Type weakness and HP Ground covers your Electric Types. And Surf is there for when Wailord is at Low HP. And Water Spout becomes useless when your at Low HP.

NU Team FTW 518
Musharuna (Dream Taker)
Bold (+Def, -Atk)
EVs (252 Def, 252 HP, 4 Sp.Def)
Item- Leftovers/Lum Berry
Trait: Synchronize

-Barrier
-Calm Mind
-Moonlight
-Stored Power

They say that running a Calm Musharuna is good. but Bold is definitely better. Since i have Calm Mind why be a Calm? Barrier and Calm Mind Plus Stored Power.. a +4 in Each and the game is like over.. Musharuna shouldnt be a NU.. More like a UU or RU At the least? Right.. It has good HP, Sp.Def, Sp.Atk.. Its a pretty good wall. Ive pull many sweeps with Musharuna.

NU Team FTW 127
Pinsir (Swag Beetle)
Jolly (+Spd, -Sp.Atk)
EVs (+252 Spd, 252 Atk, 4 HP)
Item- Focus Sash/Choice Scarf/Salac Berry
Trait: Mold Breaker

-Swords Dance
-X-Scissor
-Close Combat
-Stone Edge

Okay Moxie is definately starting to get overrated and overused to me.. Its a great ability and all.. But yeah Mold Breaker is better. Espically against something with Sturdy. Well Mold Breaker cancels all abilities effects like Rain.Thunders accuracy goes back down to 70% and stuff like that.. Swords Dance and a Focus Shash go together.. If im running Scarf ill probably replace it with Earthquake. and Salac Berry is good. but it doesnt always work. more like a good 65%

NU Team FTW 315
Roselia (In Bloom)
Calm (+Sp.Def, -Atk)
EVs (+252 sP.Def, 252 HP, 4 Sp.Atk)
Item- Eviolite
Trait: Poison Point/Natural Cure

-Toxic Spikes
-Leech Seed
-Giga Drain/Synthesis
-Sleep Powder

You might say its good to lead with Roselia but not neccesarily.. Due to its many weakness. if your lucky then yeah. Quickly do Toxic Spikes when a opponent is downed by Sleep Powder or even by Flaffys Discharge and setup a Leech Seed if you run Synthesis that the only bit of damage youll do to your opponents.. Which yeah probably is good/bad.. Its good to get the HP. Its bad if the opponents has more than one Pokemon which they can just switch..

NU Team FTW 378
Regice (Chillin)
Bold (+Def, -Atk)
EVs (252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Sp.Atk)
Item- Leftovers/Lum Berry/Ice Rock
Trait: Ice Body/Clear Body

-Hail/Amnesia
-Ice Beam
-Rest/Substitiute
-Focus Blast/Ancientpower

Yeah a Bold Regice sounds a little odd.. Because obivous pick of Nature would be Calm to get a Sp.Def of 548. Which walls the hell outta Pokes even in OU Like Espeon. But Bold Regice has pretty decent defense a base of 100 at that. so 328 Def is good. and with a natural Specially blky stat already but if you insist you can just Amnesia and get your Sp.Def more higher. Ice Beam is of course the main STAB. And Ancientpower does has that 10% of raising all stats by 1 if that happens then Regice would be kinda deadlier... Focus Blast is good to but Ancientpower cover its Fire Type weakness..

I think it was very ditsy of you to create your team while posting it on the forums. In general, i find a RMT forum to post teams that are already built and have been tested and need refinement. Therefore the fact that you built this team right here on the forum shows you have not tested it nor do you care for testing it as now everyone has seen your team in detail... Even if it is just NU, the idea of what an RMT should be is not this.

Half your team is weak to fire and only 1 pokemon covers it, who is otherwise not a very defensive set to tank those hits.

Being a player of NU a lot i find that an Absol of all things can easily kill your whole team. The whole Dark/Fighting combo he brings a long with the power of Priority with sucker punch can really damage your team if he gets up +2 and flaafy doesnt have 1 cotton guard up.

And some of the sets seem a little redundant and try to force too much originality. For one, your Musharna set seems a little preposterous in the idea to boost all that just to use stored power... You're asking for Absol to just set up all over you.

I'm just saying a lot more thought could have gone through this and some tests with the team would be nice before posting it.

Forums like these are meant for teams you use and think need refinement. Not to build them....

Supahgassy pretty much said it all.

Because you haven't clarified where you paly NU (Beta or Smogon), I'm just going to assume Beta.

Three out of the top 5 most used Pokemon in Beta NU can give you serious trouble. They're good, and that's why they're used so much, but if left unanswered...gg.

Sawk runs a mean Choice set, either Scarfed or Banded. Wailord may have huge HP, but isn't going to take much coming off a bse 45 defence stat. Scarfed sets can revenge the majority of your team- Regice, Pinsir and Wailord can't take take any hits from it. Band sets are the same, but can be revenged by Wailord.

Exeggutor, whilst taken care of by Pinsir, can dispatch of Wailord with Leaf Storm, same goes for Flaaffy. Psychic can get rid of Roselia and Pinsir on the switch. Not the biggest threat, but also b wary of Sleep Powders.

Now. What I think the biggest threat is: Emboar.

I don't think (And I'm too lazy) I even have to check calcs for this one. I would say Banded Emboar could OHKO all of your Pokemon, with the right move, except for Musharna. Wild Charge takes care of Wailord, Earthquake for Flaaffy, and Flare Blitz for Roselia, Pinsir and Regice. Granted, the most common set is a Scarf set, but even that is enough to dispatch your entire team. A not as common Life Orb set gives Emboar the choice between Flare Blitz, Earthquake, Superpower and Wild Charge, with a bit of extra power to boot.

To remedy Sawk and Emboar, to a slight extent, I would use physically defensive, perhaps a Curse set, Quagsire, of whom I would put over Flaaffy. Because Flaaffy is not bulky in the slightest, even with an Eviolite. Now that does open a bit of a Grass weakness, of whom Roselia can aborb, but can't really do anything back, and it dislikes Eggy.
Now Wailord is good and all, in a tier where there aren't as many Special Attackers as Physical Attackerss (Estimation there), Good Special Attackers are hard to come by. I would suggest CM Eviolite Duosion over Wailord, who can use it's bulkiness to take advantage of Toxic Spikes, and is a potent attacker.

Don't want to be mean, but this team would not be successful when laddering, and, as pointed out, this is an RMT. You have to finalise all decisions, including items and moves- it isn't an analysis. If you want to be successful in NU, watch good NU battles, and use PO's usage stats which also give the most used sets. Rant over.
