So this is something I quickly threw together when I found out that beta has chandelure, yes even flash fire, banned on the ladder. I have to say no preview OU laddering has been a great learning experience for me so far. It's made me try new things and helped me get a better grasp of the metagame.
Jewls (Sableye) (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Recover
- Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Toxic
So this is my Sableye. Nothing much to say here. I've used it on several of my teams (though contrary to popular belief not all of them >.>) Its focus is a supporting role, to cripple the enemy team as much as possible.
Psyche (Espeon) (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Magic Bounce
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Psyshock
- Calm Mind
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Espeon truly shines on ladder. Especially with the prevalence of things that love to set up hazards. On my normal teams I prefer hp fight over fire, but fire is more suitable for laddering. However, I have to say I really do miss being able to rip chuncks out of tyranitar :/ Heatran is even more of a pain. If you switch you may end up letting them set up rocks, but if you don't you're probably going to have to fodder. The decision really is plaguing me. Both have their advantages, but Fire removes scizor as a threat all together. However, fire and fighting do a similar amount to a ferrothorn in rain. Both options remove a significant amount of the meta-game threats, so it can be a very hard choice to make :/
DESTROY (Landorus-T) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
- Superpower
Landorous T is awesome, end of story. It packs an enormous punch, and intimidate is a nice bonus to have. My only complaint is that sometimes i just don't get as much out of its stone edge as I do Terrakion's, which is a bit disappointing.
Fantôme (Gengar) (F) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Shadow Ball
- Substitute
- Disable
- Focus Blast
Disable Gengar is one of the funnest things to use on ladder. For some reason, most people just don't see it coming. Quite a few team's I've encountered are fairly weak to it too.
FatBeotch (Chansey) (F) @ Eviolite
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave
- Protect
- Wish
So this is my first time ever using a Chansey. I used to ignore it out of sheer defiance, coupled with the fact that I just plain hate it. However, I decided to give everyone's favorite fatass cow a try. I'd like to thank the ever so arrogant kingtrace for helping to improve this set. This is just your typical Chansey. Anything that Sableye doesn't burn or poison, she can paralyze. Gengar and Landorous will generally appreciate a wish pass too.
Shroom (Amoonguss) (M) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Clear Smog
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Ah the underestimated Amoonguss. This set has always been one of my favorites. It has and continues to work so well because many people underestimate this little guy. few unboosted hits of either variety can easily KO, allowing you to spore and quickly switch for health. Wish passing with Chansey is also one sure way to make your opponents rage.
So there you have it. I've had varying success with this team, but I jumped up a decent amount in a short time with it. However, it's glaringly weak to Jirachi (although what isn't?) and Toxicroak at times.
